For several years we’ve been growing this squash at the farm. It’s one of my personal favorites. We call it the Turks Turban. It’s a beautiful, colorful and definitely a whimsical squash.

Tasty! Tasty!

Turks turbans are delicious and there outer shells make for great soup bowls! Not to mention it’s very festive! Come on down, grab a few and try them out for yourself. You will not be disappointed!

Additionally…

If your going just for looks, the squash certainly will dress up your front porch, mantel and I’ve even seen it apart of centerpieces for thanksgiving dinner! It sure is a beaut. The imperfect shape makes it perfect. It almost resembles an imperfect mushroom.

What do I do with a turks turban?

Well me being a squash and pumpkin lover, of course I bake it!! It’s so yummy!! Just talking about it makes my mouth water. But you know what else I love to do with it? I love to stack it on top of my cinderella pumpkins on my porch. That is, till they make it to my kitchen. πŸ˜‹Β Then into my belly πŸ™ŒπŸ»

The time is a tickin’ and fall will soon be here. Can y’all believe that in 48 hours we are officially open? That’s crazy! Where did the time go? Pack up your summer clothes, bust out them fall sweaters and head on over to Penny’s!

Hey y’all! Thought I would do a little blog about our favorite farmer, our MVP of the pumpkin patch, Tom Minnoe! As he gets the patch ready for season I thought I would share a bit of history about him.

Who is Farmer Tom?

Farmer Tom, aka dad, that’s what I call him. He is a husband to Penny. Father to 3 girls: Ashleigh, Sara and Kristen. He is also a grandfather to 3 grandsons and 1 granddaughter: Logan, Landon, Mason and Parker. My father grew up with a love of country music. He has a musical background and he grew up playing guitar in a family band. He has a love of entertaining guests, country livin and farm animals. He especially loves horses. He grew up showing horses at the state fair and such. Later in life he became a farrier. I remember growing up as a young child and going with him to shoe horses. #countrylivin Farmer Tom is a 1983 graduate student of Oklahoma State Horseshoeing School.

Fun fact

Farmer Tom was born the month of January in France! How cool is that?! As you read above he plays the guitar, but he can also play the banjo, very well in fact!

Come meet Tom at the pumpkin patch! Open next month!

It’s Fri-Yay! Thank heavens!

As we approach the end of August comes the change of season. The change of weather, the change of leaves and the change of pumpkins. The air gets cooler, leaves change color and pumpkins turn orange.Β As we await this change, it reminds us of the beauty of nature in NY. We are so excited for our 11th season! We wouldn’t be here without you all, for that we are so grateful.
Whose excited for pumpkin pie. Smelling the sweet aroma of warm buttery homemade pie crust, hugging the delicious sugar pumpkin from Penny’s! We are πŸ™‹πŸΌ…

Gearing Up!

Penny is busy prepping the menu for the chuck wagon! Wonder what’ll be new this year? You’ll just have to wait and see πŸ˜ƒ

The final touches of the blacksmith shop has begun and we can’t wait for you to see the new western town!

Stay tuned for a new blog on Farmer Tom!

Howdy y’all!! Fall will soon be here and it sure is time for a pumpkin patch update! While we all enjoy the summer soaking up the rays or picking up extra shifts at work, our pumpkin plants are doing the same. Soaking up the sun β˜€οΈΒ and working extra hard to be fall ready!

What’s happening now?

In the past couple of weeks our plants have grown blossoms. They have opened and our bees are hard at work pollinating. This is nature at its best. It’s beautiful! You know what else, we already have small green pumpkins. They have arrived! Over the next month Farmer Tom will keep an eye on his produce. He’ll be watching them grow in weight and size and he’ll be watching the color change as well.

As you can see it’s an exciting and busy time at the farm, as we all prepare for the fall. Whose excited for apple cider doughnuts, cozy sweaters and of course pumpkin picking at Penny’s?! We are and we are so excited to see you all again for another amazing fall season! πŸŽƒ

Just a friendly reminder, Penny’s will be open August 12th from 9am-5pm for a garage sale.
